The Power of Forgiveness
Peace: a word that have multiple dimensions. There is peace that is within us and then there is peace which is around us. Whatever the dimension of the word may be, it has one common solution: forgive. And that forgiveness brings internal and external peace.
"The Power of Forgiveness" is our latest initiative to promote importance of forgiving in our lives. World around us changed so much in the past few decades that this wonderful emotion and action of humans have started to fade out. We believe in order for this world to be peaceful, we need to learn to forgive. When we have patience and tolerance, when we know that we as human being can make mistakes then we must also learn the skill to forgive people for their mistakes.
Why would anyone want to forgive someone who has wronged them in the past? It is not about letting someone off the hook for a wrongdoing, or forgetting about the past, or forgetting about the pain. It certainly does not mean that you stick around for future maltreatment from that fellow human being. It is about setting yourself free so that you can move forward in your own life. Joan Borysenko, a distinguished pioneer in integrative medicine and world-renowned expert in the mind/body connection said in an interview, "You can forgive someone who wronged you and still call the police and testify in court." Forgiveness requires a deep inquiry within ourselves about "our story".
As GPUH mission and vision is not only limited to resolving conflicts related to armed military forces and raising awareness about the sensitive topics that cause conflicts but also working at the micro level in smaller communities, ethnicities and minorities to engage them in this global peacebuilding process.
GPUH will promote this initiative by designing, planning and executing regular digital media campaigns on variety of platforms including social media, television media and email shots. We will also engage through seminars and virtual social networking event to get the words across.
